Voice Texting Better Than Typing?
Madrid-based Almira Labs announced their new Voice Cast product today at CTIA Wireless 2009 in Las Vegas. Voice Cast suite allows users to send voice messages to predefined groups from either their mobile phone or their desktop PC via a browser.Sure texting is great, and a lot of times the silent communication works well for work meetings, school classes and other social functions where you need to get a message out but don't want to distract others. But sometimes it would be nice to be able to let the coworker you're texting that you are being sarcastic, without actually having to type it out. It can be hard to communicate it via the 160 characters in a text. They would hear it in your voice though.
Enter Almira Labs' voice texts. They're not quiet, but they do have their benefits - one being voice tone and intonation. You can put more emotion into your messages and make them more convenient and exciting on both ends.
Let's say you're away from your computer and need to get a quick message about tonight's poker game to all of your gaming buddies telling them the start time changed or the buy-in has gone up. You're faced with a couple of choices. You can A-call each person and spend 10 minutes talking with each one or B-spend five minutes per person texting the info. It's the same message but getting it to each person is time-consuming and/or frustrating. With the Voice Cast suite, you'd simply record a voice message, complete with clever punch line, create a "mailing" list of all your buddies' phone numbers and hit "Send" (or some such.) Voil
